Koyasan Guest House completed

The construction of a guesthouse we had designed was completed at Koyasan, a World Heritage Site and a sacred place for the Shingon sect of Buddhism.

This is the first shared house-type accommodation for backpackers in Koyasan, which is full of temple lodgings.

The café lounge would be a place for domestic and international travelers to mingle, and would also be used for galleries and workshops. The client wanted it to be a place where neighbors could also gather.

Accommodation area centered around a dormitory for one mattress.

Only the dormitory section is on two floors, and the upper level is approached by a ladder.

A pathway with a forest of narrow pillars runs through the building from the cafe lounge to the accommodation area

When we were students, we too took many trips to see architecture and learned many things.
Although it is a small facility, we are looking forward to seeing how it will become a place where people from all over the world can come and go. Structural design is by Takashi Manda and construction by Kimura Corporation of Osaka.
